Pre-and Post- Wax Care

Pre Wax Care

  • Do not be afraid to book because you’re afraid of your body or hair growth being judged. Everyone’s body is different and embraced at ZigZag Beauty Studio.

  • Do not get a wax if you are currently on any oral acne medications

  • Do not get a wax if you are using topical acne medication in the area receiving the wax.

  • Stop using chemicals and physical exfoliants 48-72 hours prior to a wax. Some examples of each are sugar scrubs, exfoliating mitts, AHAs, BHAs, retinoids, etc.

  • Hair that has been previously removed using other methods such as shaving and depilatory removal should be grown out for two or more weeks. The hair length should be at least the length of an uncooked grain of rice. If your hair is longer than this, it is okay.

  • Do not tan 48-72 hours before wax.

  • Be sure to shower or bathe before you appointment. However, do not apply heavy lotions, butters, creams, or oils on the area receiving the wax.

  • Do not book an appointment if you have any open or infected wounds, broken skin, rashes, etc.

Post Wax Care

  • To reduce the chance of irritation or infection, DO NOT DO any of the following for 24-48 hours after your wax:

    • Tan

    • Exercise

    • Sit in saunas

    • Take extremely hot showers

    • Soak in bath tubs

    • Use pools or hot tubs

    • Wear excessively tight clothes in the areas waxed

    • Have sexual intercourse

    • Use heavily scented perfume or soaps in the areas waxed

    • Exfoliate using chemical or physical exfoliants

  • DO NOT shave or use depilatories (Veet, Nair, etc.) between appointments.

  • To calm irritation, you may apply cold compresses to the areas waxed.

  • You can book your next appointment by following these standards:

    • FACE-3~4 weeks

    • BODY-4~6 weeks

  • Please use the suggested aftercare products as recommended.
